OBJETIVES

GeoAtlantic will directly contribute to European strategies to promote sustainable and smart growth, based on endogenous resources of the Atlantic regions.

GeoAtlantic is part of Priority Axis 2 of the Atlantic Area programme: fostering resource efficiency.

Specifically, it acts on three thematic objectives:


Encourage the transtition to a low carbon economy in all sectors.


Promote the production and distribution of energy derived from renewable sources.

 Promote renewable energies and energy efficiency. 

The project seeks in general to promote the use of geothermal energy in communities through the joint development of tools and methodologies to create the necessary conditions to favor the energy transition in the Atlantic Area through the implementation of favorable local ecosystems, for the promotion of local geothermal resources.

The project will act on 3 barriers
The lack of information among consumers

Thereby improving the knowledge and capacities of the different actors

The lack of energy service providers related to geothermal energy (fewer than in the case of solar or wind energy)

Therefore, innovation and technology transfer will be supported

In the offer and access to innovations and technologies that can facilitate the optimal exploitation of the resources of the regions where the change to a new energy model is still beginning

Local policies and pilot demonstrations of the use of geothermal energy will be implemented
