ICOG calls on public administrations to become more involved in the promotion of shallow geothermal energy

The Illustrious Official College of Geologists (ICOG) has called for greater involvement of public administrations in the promotion of geothermal energy this Friday, March 1, during the opening of a technical day dedicated to this renewable energy source within the framework of ‘Genera 2019’. Thus, the president of the ICOG, Manuel Regueiro, has indicated that the sector wants legislation that makes the development of it simple and does not hinder geothermal, as indicated by the ICOG in a statement.

During the event, the head of Industry and Sustainable Building of the EnergyLab technology centre, Gerardo Rodríguez, highlighted the role of geothermal energy in the fight against climate change and pointed out that 40% of energy consumption in the EU is related to buildings and that 75% of the stock of buildings is inefficient from an energy point of view.
