ICOG calls for greater involvement of public administrations in the promotion of shallow geothermal energy

The president of the Official College of Geologists (ICOG), Manuel Regueiro, has called for greater involvement of public administrations in the promotion of geothermal energy and has done so during the opening of a technical conference dedicated to this renewable energy source within the framework of Genera 2019. “We want there to be legislation that simplifies the development of this sector and does not hinder geothermal energy”, said Regueiro, who expressed his hope that the different regional and state governments that will emerge after the April and May elections “will be favourable to geothermal energy.

“Investments in clean energies are very important and very powerful in the fight against climate change; we have to change the energy model by combining different renewable energies”, continued Dávila. “In the same way that social criteria are included in urban planning plans, we are going to have to include environmental and energy efficiency criteria, especially in social housing projects to put an end to energy poverty,” he concluded.
